Instrumentation Engineer

INERCHEM is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to support international power and water projects through installation verification, calibration, loop checking, cause-and-effect testing, troubleshooting and plant start-up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review instrument indexes, datasheets, hook-ups, loop drawings, P&IDs, logic diagrams and cause-and-effect matrices.
  • Verify installation, impulse tubing, cabling, junction boxes, terminations and accessibility of field instruments.
  • Review calibration certificates and perform field calibration or verification where required.
  • Prepare and execute loop-check packages and maintain accurate test records.
  • Test alarms, trips, interlocks, permissives and control loops with DCS, PLC and package systems.
  • Coordinate analyser commissioning, sampling systems and specialist vendor activities.
  • Identify instrument or signal faults and drive troubleshooting through resolution.
  • Manage punch lists, technical queries and reinstatement checks.
  • Support start-up, control-loop tuning, reliability runs and performance testing.
  • Apply LOTO, permit-to-work and project HSE requirements during all field activities.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree or technical qualification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Control or a related discipline.
  • At least seven years of relevant experience, including commissioning and start-up work.
  • Strong knowledge of pressure, flow, level, temperature and analytical instrumentation.
  • Practical experience with calibration, loop checks, functional testing and commissioning records.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring drawings and control narratives.
  • Experience interfacing field instruments with DCS, PLC and package-control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, coordination and reporting skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in English and availability for international site assignments.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in combined-cycle power or large desalination plants.
  • Familiarity with smart instrumentation, HART devices, analysers and control valves.
  • Experience with cause-and-effect, interlock and sequence testing.
  • Previous work in multidisciplinary international commissioning teams.
