INERCHEM is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support international power and water projects through installation verification, alignment, flushing, inspection, functional testing, troubleshooting and equipment start-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Review mechanical drawings, equipment datasheets, vendor manuals, P&IDs and installation requirements.
- Inspect rotating and static equipment installation, foundations, alignment, piping interfaces and access for maintenance.
- Verify lubrication, preservation, coupling, guarding and pre-start readiness requirements.
- Prepare and execute inspection plans, flushing activities, leak tests and mechanical functional checks.
- Support start-up of pumps, compressors, fans, turbines, valves and packaged equipment.
- Monitor vibration, temperature, pressure and other equipment-performance indicators.
- Coordinate vendor representatives, construction teams and other commissioning disciplines.
- Identify mechanical defects, lead troubleshooting and follow corrective actions through closure.
- Manage punch lists, commissioning records and equipment handover documentation.
- Ensure work complies with approved procedures, LOTO, permit-to-work and project HSE standards.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- At least seven years of relevant industrial experience, including commissioning or start-up work.
- Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment, piping systems and mechanical installation practices.
- Practical experience with alignment, flushing, inspections, functional testing and mechanical completion.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, datasheets and vendor documentation.
- Experience with punch-list management, troubleshooting and commissioning records.
- Strong field coordination and technical-reporting capabilities.
- Professional working proficiency in English and availability for international site assignments.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in combined-cycle power plants, desalination facilities or major process plants.
- Knowledge of vibration monitoring, condition assessment and precision alignment.
- Experience with pumps, compressors, turbines, pressure vessels and large-bore piping.
- Previous work within multidisciplinary international project teams.
